The Love Your Local campaign was launched by the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality (OEV) in 2018 as a Small Business Saturday initiative. The movement encourages citizens in Tallahassee and Leon County to support small businesses by shopping locally, while also shining a spotlight on the thousands of unique, local businesses in the community.

At OEV, we know that our local businesses thrive off the support & love of the community. Small businesses help preserve our region’s unique culture—maintaining the charm and appeal we all have grown to appreciate. They are not just a business, but an extension of our vibrant community. 

According to the American Independent Business Alliance, for every dollar you spend at a local retail business, 67 cents stays in the local community. This means more of each dollar you spend at a local, independent business gets spent on local wages, local suppliers, and local livelihoods than when you shop at chain retailers and restaurants.

Although it is now a year-long campaign, OEV continues to promote the benefits of supporting local businesses on Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday season.
